SACS Requirements

The Quality Enhancement Plan Team is a group of faculty, students, alumni, and staff recruited in Spring 2008 and charged as follows to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan for UGA to satisfy accreditation requirements for UGA's re-affirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools:

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Team
(note: the name of this team has been changed to the Student Learning Enhancement Team)

Charge to the Team, as amended and approved by the SACS Leadership Team, September 9, 2008:

The charge of UGA’s QEP Team is to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan for the University of Georgia that complies with expectations of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement. The process of selecting the focus topic of the plan must be highly participatory and must be evidence-based. The topic itself must address improving student learning outcomes. The institution must demonstrate that it has the resources to support the plan over a five year period and that it will be able to assess the success of the plan using measurable indicators.
In order to fulfill this charge, over the next 18 months the QEP Team should:

1. Identify, investigate, and assess possible areas of focus for UGA’s QEP;

2. Recommend to the UGA SACS Leadership Team an area of focus (or multiple possible areas) for development of a full QEP;

3. Following approval by the Leadership Team, develop a detailed QEP based on the chosen area of focus that will be implemented following the SACS reaffirmation.
